Manga Review: Ai Ore!, Vol. 5: Love Me! [Paperback]

I've finished "Ai Ore Vol. 5" by Mayu Shinjo.

Reads R to L (Japanese Style), for audiences T+.

Mizuki is the female "prince" of her all-girls school and the lead guitarist in an all-girl rock band. Akira is the male "princess" of his all-boys school and wants to join her band. Love may be on his mind, but romance is difficult when everyone keeps mistaking Mizuki for a boy and Akira for a girl!

Much to Akira’s dismay, his lecherous tutor from middle school, Sho Kasuga, has suddenly reappeared. Akira has a secret from his past that he doesn’t want Mizuki to know, and he’s terrified Sho will reveal it!

My Review:

In this volume Akira and Mizuki have their first fight and Akira wears a suit while Mizuki wears a skirt.

I highly recommend this volume for the 18+ crowd since there is naked pictures, swearing and talk about sexual orientation.

The manga opens with Akira and Sho in his room talking.  Akira isn't very happy to see Sho because he's afraid he will tell Mizuki about their past and she would break up with him.  Sho starts talking about he will make Akira a man this time but Akira shuts him down and says he doesn't want to hear about it.  Sho finally says, "okay I will only tutor you."

We see Akira thinking about what happened in their past (Sho is showing him naked pictures of women, etc.) when Sho finally leaves.  Akira looks around his room and notices there are porn magazines and looks at them.

Then we see Mizuki shopping with her friends and she buys a skirt for her date with Akira tomorrow (this is her first time).  Then we see Akira standing and thinking about his date with Mizuki tomorrow.  A man comes up to him asking him if he would like to model (thinking he's a girl) but Akira says he's not interested and tries to leave.  The man grabs him when Banbi arrives and scares the man away who thinks he's Yakuza.  Akira notices Banbi in a suit and asks him if that is how he dresses when not at school.  Banbi replies, "yes!"  Akira asks him to help him buy a suit for his date tomorrow.  Meanwhile we see Mizuki with her friends walking around and her friends comment what cute couple those two make.  Mizuki looks around and realizes one of them is Akira.  She spies on them from the bushes when she realizes Ran and Ren are there also (this was a very funny scene).

It's the next day and Mizuki is on her way to meet Akira for her date.  She's very surprised to see Akira in a suit and sunglasses (he looks more manly) and he's very happy that Mizuki wore a skirt.  She starts crying when we see Sho and he mentions he enjoyed his visit with Akira the day before. Then he introduces Sho to Mizuki and then he starts checking her out.  Akira pulls him over so Mizuki can't hear them but she is suspicious that he is keeping something from her.   When Akira comes back Mizuki asks him if he has anything to tell her but he says no.  She starts yelling and crying, "I hate it when someone lies to me!" and then she runs off.

I will update later on tonight or tomorrow evening!
