The Murder of King Tut: The Plot to Kill the Child King - A Nonfiction Thriller (Hardcover

I've just finished reading "The Murder of King Tut" by James Patterson and Martin Dugard.

Product Description

A secret buried for centuries

Thrust onto Egypt's most powerful throne at the age of nine, King Tut's reign was fiercely debated from the outset. Behind the palace's veil of prosperity, bitter rivalries and jealousy flourished among the Boy King's most trusted advisors, and after only nine years, King Tut suddenly perished, his name purged from Egyptian history. To this day, his death remains shrouded in controversy.

The keys to an unsolved mystery

Enchanted by the ruler's tragic story and hoping to unlock the answers to the 3,000 year-old mystery, Howard Carter made it his life's mission to uncover the pharaoh's hidden tomb. He began his search in 1907, but encountered countless setbacks and dead-ends before he finally, uncovered the long-lost crypt.

The clues point to murder

Now, in The Murder of King Tut, James Patterson and Martin Dugard dig through stacks of evidence -- X-rays, Carter's files, forensic clues, and stories told through the ages--to arrive at their own account of King Tut's life and death. The result is an exhilarating true crime tale of intrigue, passion, and betrayal that casts fresh light on the oldest mystery of all.

My Review:

I actually really enjoyed reading this book which I didn't think I would.  I learned some stuff I didn't know before about Howard Carter, King Tut and the other major players during and before his time.

Untraceable (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Untraceable" the 1st book in her Tracer series by Laura Griffin.

Product Description

ALEX LOVELL MAKES PEOPLE DISAPPEAR.
TURNS OUT, SHE'S NOT THE ONLY ONE.

Private investigator Alexandra Lovell uses computer skills and cunning to help clients drop off the radar and begin new lives in safety. Melanie Bess, desperate to escape her abusive cop husband, was one of those clients. But when Melanie vanishes for real, Alex fears the worst, and sets out to discover what happened. Using every resource she can get her hands on -- including an elite team of forensic scientists known as the Tracers, and a jaded, sexy Austin PD detective -- Alex embarks on a mission to uncover the truth.

As far as homicide cop Nathan Deveraux is concerned, no body means no case. But as much as he wants to believe that Alex's hunch about Melanie's murder is wrong, his instincts -- and their visceral attraction -- won't let him walk away. As a grim picture of what really happened begins to emerge, Nathan realizes this investigation runs deeper than they could ever have guessed. And each step nearer the truth puts Alex in danger of being the next to disappear....

About the Author

Laura Griffin started her career in journalism before venturing into the world of romantic suspense. Her articles have appeared in numerous newspapers and magazines, and her fiction work has garnered awards from writing competitions throughout the country. Laura currently lives in Austin, where she is working on her next novel.

Visit her web site at http://www.lauragriffin.com/.

My Review:

Storyline:   I really enjoyed the storyline because they couldn't really nail the bad guy without any proof of evidence.  Didn't like the fact he is a women abuser and like to brand them with cigarettes on their neck.

Characters: I really enjoyed Alexandra and Nathan's characters because they were both stubborn, level-headed and they both were well written.

Romance:  I loved the romance between Alexandra and Nathan even though he didn't believe her he was still attracted to her and wanted to protect her.  I was glad when he finally believed her about the killer.

Killer:  The killer was well liked and respected and no one suspected him.  No one had any proof of evidence that he was drug dealer or killer until later in the book then they nailed him.  Glad to see what was coming to him but I thought he got off to easy.

Finger Lickin' Fifteen (Stephanie Plum Novels) (Hardcover)

I've just finished reading "Finger Lickin' Fifteen" the 15th book in her Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich.

From Publishers Weekly

Bestseller Evanovich recycles tired themes better executed in earlier adventures in her latest Stephanie Plum adventure (Fearless Fourteen, etc.). When Lula inadvertently witnesses the beheading of culinary TV star Stanley Chipotle in a Trenton, N.J., alley, Stephanie's on-again off-again boyfriend, cop Joe Morelli, reluctantly takes the case. Lula, with the help of Grandma Mazur, enters the same barbequing competition Chipotle was in town to promote, hoping to lure the murderers out of hiding. Meanwhile, Ranger has recruited Stephanie to help solve a series of break-ins at properties under the protection of Rangeman Security. The inevitable sparks fly between Stephanie and Ranger, with Morelli grumbling on the sidelines. Evanovich dishes up her usual mixture of shoot-'em-up action (numerous cars explode) and quirky characters (notably a neighborhood flasher with a devoted following), but the lackluster plot will disappoint fans. (June 23)

About the Author

JANET EVANOVICH is the #1 bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum novels, twelve romance novels, the Alexandra Barnaby novels, and How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author. She lives in New Hampshire and Florida along with her St. Bernard granddog Barnaby.

My Review:

As usual Stephanie loses her skip and get covered in goo among other stuff.  LOL!

Grandma Mazur & Lulu are both hilarious in this book and they always make me laugh.  Lulu sure farts alot in this one!  Hahahaha!

Morelli is hot but RANGER is the MAN!  Love his sexual one liners and his flirting techniques!

Glad to see Joyce can her one uppance (she deserved what she got, hohoho!

No One Lives Forever (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "No One Lives Forever" the 3rd book in her No One trilogy series by Jordan Dane.

Product Description

Nothing Is What It Seems

Born to a childhood pitted by violence, Christian Delacorte is desperate for peace when he embarks on a new life with the woman he loves, Detective Raven Mackenzie. But soon his old life comes calling—in the tempting form of a mysterious woman assassin.

When a Deadly Seductress Comes Calling

Jasmine Lee is determined to collect an old marker from Christian. He owes her—big time—and she needs his help freeing her kidnapped lover, Nicholas Charboneau—a powerful mogul linked to Chicago's underworld. Christian doesn't trust her, but Jasmine entices him to leave Raven behind when she reveals his shocking connection to Charboneau.

And a Lethal Race Against Time Begins

Christian has seven days to attempt an impossible rescue of the father he never knew. And when a woman assassin with ulterior motives makes a lousy ally, Christian is alone to face the stark reality that no one lives forever . . . and he might be the next to die.

My Review:

Storyline: I really enjoyed this romantic thriller and the storyline was believable.

Characters: The characters were well written and I thought Raven reminds me of Eve Dallas & Christian reminds me of Roarke!

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Raven & Christian because they are attracted to each other but still don't trust each other. They are both loners, tortured and have secrets. I also enjoyed the romance between Jasmine and Nicolas.

Killer: The killer were just vile and sick.

This book is a little more darker than the previous book.

My Review:

Storyline: I really enjoyed this cozy mystery and the storyline was believable.

Characters: The characters were well written and I thought Carmela & Ava reminds me of Columbo because they seem to

I received this ARC in the mail today (sent by The Cadence Group), thanks Rebecca.

Instead of resolution, T.R., unwittingly enters a world of human trafficking, drugs, and illicit sex taking place behind the scenes. This suspenseful tale of contemporary fiction is packed with enlightenment and high-stakes characters; provoking thought on a new subject in a new light.

About the Author

The author is a graduate of the University of Denver with a degree in Engineering Administration. He has spent the last forty years associated with the construction industry; which inspired the events of this story. Currently, he resides in Boulder, CO, with his wife, five children, dog, and cutting horses. While the author has been published before in short story format this is the author's debut novel.

The Cost of Dreams (Paperback)

I've just finished reading "The Cost of Dreams" by Gary Stelzer.

Product Description

A novel: Flora Enriquez trusts that she has found safe haven for her young family in the remote U.S. Southwest, after fleeing the murderous environs of Central America where her parents were slain in a civil war. Only to find that all of her life's greatest challenges, by far, still lie before her.

About the Author

The author is a retired physician residing in the northern Midwestern U.S. with his family. THE COST OF DREAMS is the first of five novels to which Decent Hearts Press is committed.

My Review:

I really enjoyed this book and I though it was well written and fast paced.  I connected with Flora and I understood how she felt when she was kidnapped and taken far away from her family.  The characters were all written well and you got to know them and their personalities.

It was interesting to read about Flora and if she would be able to walk again and what was keeping her legs not functioning.

Glad to see that Flora connects again with her two younger brothers and her friend finds out what really happened to her nephew.

Speak of the Devil (Morgan Kingsley, Exorcist, Book 4) (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Speak of the Devil" the 4th book in her Morgan Kingsley series by Jenna Black.

Product Description

FOR A KICK-ASS EXORCIST, IT’S ALL ABOUT STAYING ALIVE….

Morgan Kingsley, America’s most successful exorcist, is paying the price for an exorcism gone wrong. The victim’s family is suing the daylights out of her, the Exorcism Board has suspended her, and now she’s living on a diet of ramen noodles and bad coffee. But Morgan has a few good men at her side. One is her current boyfriend, nice-guy legal eagle Brian, who’s suddenly starting to reveal his inner bad boy. The other is Philly cop Adam White, who’s trying to help Morgan find out who sent her a little present—a severed human hand—and why someone seems determined to destroy her.

As her stalker turns more violent, leaving dead bodies in his wake, Morgan turns to the dark side of her life: a group of demons steeped in secrets, sinful eroticism, and otherworldly family feuds, including one sexy beast who shares Morgan’s body—and some X-rated fantasies. Soon Morgan must choose between her friends, her enemies, and her libido: to escape a mad demon determined to destroy her completely.

About the Author

Jenna Black is your typical writer. Which means she's an "experience junkie." She got her BA in physical anthropology and French from Duke University. Once upon a time, she dreamed she would be the next Jane Goodall, camping in the bush making fabulous discoveries about primate behavior. Then, during her senior year at Duke, she did some actual research in the field and made this shocking discovery: primates spend something like 80% of their time doing such exciting things as sleeping and eating. Concluding that this discovery was her life's work in the field of primatology, she then moved on to such varied pastimes as grooming dogs and writing technical documentation.

The Tiger & the Tomb (Mass Market Paperback)

Product Description

Warrior of the Wind

The map to the treasure-filled tomb that would ransom Lady Katherine’s father was in the possession of a half-English "Khamsin," a desert warrior renowned for tiger-like ferocity. Long ago, a tiger had scarred Katherine and taught her a lesson: Protect yourself from such powerful creatures, no matter how beautiful. The veil she wore would not be enough.

Seeker of her heart

Her foe was truly dangerous. His amber eyes were keener than his sword, his kisses too. They stripped away Katherine’s defenses and made her forget her duties, her promises, why she’d hidden so much from his view. Then the warrior took Katherine where she wished to go. In the depths of his ancestor’s tomb he made sweet love to her and proved she was his… and that very soon he would uncover everything she tried to hide.

I also received this and won on The Daily Dose, thanks Heather.

Frostbitten (Women of the Otherworld, Book 10) (Hardcover)

Product Description

Smart, sexy, supernatural—the men and women of the Otherworld live and love, fight and die, among us. Unseen and unsuspected, this realm of witches, ghosts, and werewolves is now threatened with exposure by a brutal series of bizarre murders that has left even the supernatural world baffled—and cold with terror….

Being the world’s only female werewolf has its advantages, such as having her pick of the Otherworld’s most desirable males. And Elena Michaels couldn’t have picked a more dangerously sexy and undyingly loyal mate than Clayton Danvers. Now their bond will be put to the ultimate test as they follow a bloody trail of gruesome slayings deep into Alaska’s frozen wilderness.

There’s nothing the werewolf community dislikes more than calling attention to itself. So when a pair of rogue man-eaters begins hunting humans, it’s up to Elena and Clayton to track down the predators. But any illusions their task would be simple are quickly dispelled. For even in werewolf terms, there’s something very disturbing taking place in the dark Alaskan forests. A werewolf more wolf than human and more unnatural than supernatural is on the hunt—a creature whose origins seem to spring from ancient legends of the shape-shifting Wendigo.

And if that wasn’t bad enough, Clayton and Elena find themselves confronting painful ghosts from their pasts—and an issue neither of them is eager to discuss. For one of them has been chosen to become the new Pack leader, and as every wolf knows, there can be only one Alpha. They’ve always been equals in everything. Now, when their survival depends more than ever on perfect teamwork, will instinct allow one of them to lead…and the other to follow?

About the Author

Kelley Armstrong is the New York Times bestselling author of the Women of the Otherworld series. She has been telling stories since before she could write. Her earliest written efforts were disastrous. If asked for a story about girls and dolls, hers would invariably feature undead girls and evil dolls, much to her teachers' dismay. All efforts to make her produce "normal" stories failed. Today she continues to spin tales of ghosts and demons and werewolves while safely locked in her basement writing-dungeon.

Acts of Mercy: A Mercy Street Novel (Mercy Street Novels) (Mass Market Paperback)

I've just finished reading "Acts of Mercy" the 3rd book in her Mercy Street series by Mariah Stewart.

Product Description

Former FBI agent Sam Delvecchio brings the keen skills of a profiler to his new position as a Mercy Street Foundation operative–and not a moment too soon. His first assignment, the cold-case murder of a local soup kitchen volunteer, has all the telltale signs of a serial killer’s work. That grim suspicion is confirmed when FBI agent Fiona Summers shares the details of two other killings with eerie similarities to Sam’s case: The bodies in all three cases have been carefully posed. And when a fourth victim is discovered, the two investigators realize they’re pursuing the same twisted quarry.

Local parish priest Kevin Burch, Mercy Street founder Robert Magellan’s cousin, recognizes the posings for what they are: The killer is staging the church’s seven Acts of Mercy (“Feed the hungry, clothe the naked . . .”) with the bodies of his victims. But as Sam and Fiona race to prevent the final three murders, taunting messages from their target lead to the most chilling realization of all.

My Review:

Storyline: There were two storylines the first one was who was killing all these men and why?  The second one was finding out who has Robert's baby boy?

Characters: All the characters were well written and you got to know them and care for them.

Romance: I enjoyed the romance between Sam and Fiona because they both are loners and they understood what each was going through.  They also worked for the same boss.  I also hope that Robert and Suze get together.

Killer: The killer wasn't as well written and I didn't really care for him.  Glad to see he got what was coming to him.  I can see his point of view but why kill all those people?

Glad to see previous main characters mentioned and for some making an appearance in this book!

The Strangely Beautiful Tale of Miss Percy Parker (Mass Market Paperback)

From Publishers Weekly

Six young men and women are called to protect the living world from the dead in Hieber's Gothic romance debut. Mysterious powers give Alexi and his peers the mission of keeping the restless dead in line and seeking a prophesied seventh guardian. Miss Percy Parker, an albino orphan with a talent for languages, fills none of their expectations, but Alexi is drawn to her all the same. Hieber draws Victorian London as beautiful and grim, with depictions of Jack the Ripper as a nightmarish many-headed hound alongside charming descriptions of the Athens Academy, Percy's boarding school, and Greek mythology that smartly draws together various elements of the story. The supporting characters are nuanced and appealing but given short shrift by the narrow focus on Percy and Alexi, though future sequels may give them more room to play. Hieber's debut shows great potential, and readers will want to revisit her intriguing world.

Product Description

The albino beauty who has come to study at Victorian London-s Athens Academy will learn not only to deal with the ghosts that she can see, but her own part in the puzzling prophecy that threatens the known world.
